Is it really free?
Yes. 3 enhancements a day without an account. Sign up and you get 7 days of Pro with no card; then you stay on Free with unlimited enhancements. Pro is $90/year or $9/month for the latest models, comprehensive detail, unlimited templates, favorites and search.
Do Free and Pro use the same models?
No. Pro unlocks the latest Claude and OpenAI models. Free uses our standard models — still strong for everyday prompting, but Pro is what we run when quality matters most.
Is Prompt Mate a prompt generator?
It is a prompt enhancer, which is a prompt generator that starts from your rough idea instead of a blank form. Type one line about the task, pick where it is going, and the result is a complete prompt with a role, the context, constraints and an output format. Most people use it that way: the line in is the brief, the prompt out is what they paste.
How is Prompt Mate different from promptmate.io and promptmate.ai?
They are different products that share a name. Prompt Mate at promptmate.cloud is a free prompt enhancer and Chrome extension for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. promptmate.io is a batch-automation tool and promptmate.ai is a prompt organiser; we are not affiliated with either.
How does the Team plan work?
$290 a year, or $29 a month, covers five people in total — you and four others. One person subscribes and invites the rest by email or by sharing a link; nobody else needs a card. Everyone gets the whole paid feature set, plus a template library the team shares and usage analytics for the group. If the subscription ends, nothing is deleted — everyone keeps their own prompts and templates.
Does it answer my prompt, or rewrite it?
It rewrites it. You get back a prompt to paste into whichever AI you were already using; Prompt Mate never tries to do the task itself. With the Chrome extension the rewrite happens inside the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini input box, so there is nothing to paste.
Which AI does the rewriting?
Prompt Mate runs on Claude, OpenAI, Gemini and Groq models, and we pick the active one on our side. Free uses our standard models. Pro unlocks the latest Claude and OpenAI models. You do not need an API key or an account with any provider.
Do you train on my prompts?
No. Prompts are stored so you can find them again, protected by row-level security, and never used to train anything.
What if the rewrite is worse?
Hit Retry for a fresh rewrite, or use "Improve further": it asks the questions your prompt left open and folds your answers into a second pass. Nothing reaches your AI until you paste it, so a bad rewrite costs you one click.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, from the billing portal in Settings. You keep the paid plan until the period ends, then drop to Free. Your history and templates stay.
What if I’m not sure yet?
Use the 7-day Pro trial with no card. If Pro isn’t a habit by day 7, you simply stay on Free — nothing to cancel, nothing to refund.
